Draw an actin filament
Everyone in our field knows what a pain it can be to draw an actin filament in illustration programs. Here’s a small program that will draw the actin for you. You can control all sorts of features of the filaments, including color, border, monomer size, number of monomers, and filament length. You can even take snapshots of bending, flexible filaments. The program will save the filament images in JPEG, TIFF, and PDF formats.
Here is an example:
Application packages are available on GitHub, and they include source code. The code is written in Processing, and require the ControlP5 library. These files are released under a BSD license.
